A self-proclaimed country girl, Alma is a 4th generation native of West Marin. Born and raised in a rural community with abundant natural beauty helped create a lifelong love of the outdoors, being active and living off the land.
Growing up, Alma played many years of recreational softball and dabbled in track & field in college as a sprinter. In later years, fitness and healthy living became her sport.
A business strategy consultant by day, Alma’s professional background is in business management of consumer software, digital media and mobile apps, where she has over 3 decades of experience. In the early morning hours Alma can be found around Marin County hiking, running, biking, body surfing, coaching and participating in her Kaia classes. Local hikes are a common weekend family adventure and over the last 5 years she has hiked Half Dome, Mt Shasta, Mt Whitney and most recently the John Muir Trail.
Gathering wild mushrooms, picking blackberries, digging clams, rock picking abalone, now Alma enjoys many activities that bring the outdoors into the kitchen.
After meeting the Kaia Founders and learning about the Kaia program, Alma was convinced that she needed Kaia in her home town and Kaia needed to be shared with her community- Kaia FIT Petaluma was born.

As a home-grown Kaia Girl, Catherine brings to her coaching a wealth of experience not only with the program but also with some of the struggles our clients face on the path to health and fitness. Catherine’s background as a lawyer and language consultant as well as a devoted mother of two enables her to appreciate the difficulties of balancing career and family. In trying to meet the demands of their busy lives, women can neglect to prioritize their own well-being—as Catherine herself discovered a few years ago. Catherine started Kaia FIT as a participant and within six months she had lost 25 pounds and become stronger and healthier than she had been in over a decade. Healthy living gave her new energy to keep up with her children and to enjoy life and the outdoors.
Catherine joined our coaching team to share her enthusiasm for Kaia FIT and to help other women improve their lives through fitness, nutrition and female camaraderie. Her personal journey inspires other Kaia Girls, while her energy, positivity, and dedication motivate those around her.
When she is not working in or working out, Catherine loves spending time with her husband, two children, Labrador retriever and Maine Coon cat. Catherine is passionate about clean living and the vital role it plays in overall health and well-being. She likes gardening and cooking and regularly shares healthy recipes with our group. A former martial artist who holds black belts in both judo and jujitsu, these days for sport Catherine enjoys running, mountain biking and hiking in addition to participating in Kaia classes and Kaia team events like races and mud runs!

I grew up in Petaluma, California and spent much of my time outdoors camping, hiking, going to the beach, and fishing with my 2 brothers and parents. Influenced by my active family, I started sports at an early age. I played mostly basketball growing up, and in high junior high also picked up track and field. Very active in high school, in both track and basketball most the year, was when I decided to pursue my love and passion for fitness. Attending Sacramento State University, I pursued my degree in Kinesiology and spent 3 years on the club rugby team.
After completing my degree, I started personal training, working in Corporate Wellness and started coaching for Kaia. Kaia was such an amazing company and community, it really changed my life, and I knew that it would change so many others, so I knew I would always be a Kaia lifer!
After working for 3 years post college, I decided to spend 5 months traveling. One month helping a fellow Kaia Komrade open a location in Oahu, and the rest through Europe. When I returned, I moved to Tucson AZ for 2 years. I coached for Crossfit gyms, as well as a Physical Therapy Studio during my time there, as well as did a lot of camping and adventuring in the desert.Certifications:

She has traveled to Alaska where she lived and worked for 15 months. Her love for nature and adventure drove her North, along with loyalty to family and an ambition to become a dental hygienist brought her back to her roots.
She was an athlete for most of her life. As a child, her love for fitness flourished while playing team sports such as soccer, basketball, and volleyball. During college, she created a way to balance mental and physical health through yoga and as an adult, she found a passion for hiking and snowboarding. After completing her dental hygiene degree, she became a yoga instructor to sustain her dental career and overall wellbeing.
Joelle enjoys nature’s bounty to its fullest. You will find her experiencing the outdoors in her free time, exploring the mountains while hiking, biking, and camping. She has become loyal to the water as well through white water rafting trips, wakeboarding, paddle boarding, and lounging at the beach and river. She brings joy to her surroundings with her new found joy of playing the Ukulele.
The importance of social support rests at the top of her list. Gathering fresh foods from local markets and cooking with family and friends is definitely one of her favorite ways to relax. She strongly believes in investing in preventative health and medicine through nutrition and massage. Kaia crossed her path in 2016 and she felt a strong connection to the philosophy and spirit of the group. Megan was born and raised in Novato and moved to Petaluma after falling in love with the area while pursuing her MBA at Sonoma State. Growing up, Megan had a fairly active lifestyle. She participated in almost every sport that was offered – tennis, ballet, swimming, soccer, softball – up through high school. After finishing high school, she began struggling with her fitness routine and jumped around looking for something she could stick with.
Megan started at Kaia FIT in January 2015 and immediately fell in love with the program and the community. The varied workouts, focus on skill and endurance training, and welcoming group of committed women, kept her coming back every morning at 5:00 am. After her first year, she joined the Kaia Alpha Team and then started co-coaching classes before joining the team as a FIT Coach.
As a coach, Megan’s positive attitude helps push our Kaia Girls out of their comfort zone to achieve their fitness and lifestyle goals. You’re guaranteed to sweat and try something you never thought you could do when you have her as a coach or working next to you in class. Her humorous quips lighten up the class and make it a little bit easier to finish strong. When Megan isn’t at the gym, she works full time as Marketing Communications Manager for a financial firm based in Concord, CA. She also spends time exploring the world around her – near and far – with her boyfriend, Erik.
